Salary Sacrifice and Auto-Enrolment

HMRC has updated its guidance to confirm that salary sacrifice arrangements can meet auto-enrolment requirements.

Previously, there were concerns that salary sacrifice arrangements generally prevented employees from reverting to their higher salary within a minimum period (often 12 months) or in the absence of specified lifestyle changes, and were therefore not compatible with the statutory right to opt out of auto enrolment.
